2.2.3 ஏறனை

திருவிக்கிரமனே உயர்ந்த தெய்வம்

ஏறனைப்பூவனைப் பூமகள்தன்னை,
வேறின்றிவிண்தொழத் தன்னுள்வைத்து,
மேல்தன்னைமீதிட நிமிர்ந்துமண்கொண்ட,
மால்தனில்மிக்குமோர் தேவுமுளதே.


பதம் பிரித்தது:

ஏறனைப் பூவனைப் பூமகள் தன்னை
வேறின்றி விண்தொழத் தன்னுள் வைத்து
மேல்தன்னை மீதிட நிமிர்ந்துமண் கொண்ட
மால்தனின் மிக்கும்ஒர் தேவும் உளதே?

பொழிப்புரை:

இடப வாகனத்தையுடைய சிவனையும் தாமரைப் பூவில் பிறந்த பிரமனையும், தாமரைப் பூவில் வீற்றிருக்கிற பெரிய பிராட்டியாரையும் வேறுபாடு இன்றி, அயர்வறும் அமரர்கள் தொழும் படி தனது திருமேனியில் வைத்து, மேலே உள்ள உலகங்களுக்கு எல்லாம் மேலே செல்லும்படி வளர்ந்து உலகத்தை அளந்துகொண்ட அறப்பெரிய தெய்வத்தைக்காட்டிலும் உயர்ந்ததாகக் கூறத்தக்க வேறு தெய்வமும் உளதோ? இல்லை

Transliteration:

yERanaip poovanaip poomagaL thannai
vERindri viNthozhath thannuL vaiththu
metrannai meethida nimirnthumaN kONda
maatrannil mikkumOr thEvumuLathO?

Translation:

While Rootless angels invoke thee – thou keep all within thy holds,
Even the Lord of the Ox, the Lotus borne and the Lotus born,
Outreaching the skies you acquired all the worlds
Can there be a God beyond thee for the ones forlorn.

(Lord of the Ox – ஏறனை; Lotus borne (Brahma) – பூவனை; Lotus born (Lakshmi) – பூமகள்;
Rootless – வேறின்றி; angels – விண்; Outreaching the skies - மேல்தன்னை மீதிட)
